Hello from Don Vega in Houston.

Hi everyone, I am so glad to find this website. I am a kinda newbie but have about five years of developing into what I'd like to call an advanced newbie. I started with the standard point and shoot and now own a "wana be" DSLR. The Panasonic DMC-FZ50. I love it for all the things it does and can live with the things it can't do. My wife is President of our Houston Philippino Nurses Association and therefore, there are lots of opportunities to take lots of pictures in many kinds of settings. Night galas, daytime health fairs, both inside and outside. So my experience has been varied, truly a growing experience. Love every minute behind the camera. I first thought about video but I realized that still photos told just as much a story in one slice of time. My camera has many of the features of a true DSLR but can also shoot video which for me right now is sometimes a necessity. The 2" "live" display is also truly a Godsend, especially since the display swivels for high and low angle shots. The limitations compared to a true DSLR are very minimal to me at this point in my life but I do have aspirations to one-day be a professional photographer. Well I guess that's all for me.
