Hello from Kawasaki, Japan!

Hello, everyone!

Just under 6 months ago I set a few 6 month business targets for myself, with the reward of a nice digital SLR if I hit my targets.

As I hit the last of my targets today, I just picked up a Nikon D80 and the kit 18-135 lens Sigma 18-50mm F2.8 EX DC Macro, and the Nikon VR 70-300 lens. I'm quite excited about it, while I'm now woefully aware of how much I don't know about photography, I'm looking forward to learning!

(The closest I've had to a SLR is a 5 Megapixel Nikon Coolpix that I got back in 2002 for my backpacking through Asia. I took some great photos with that, and I'm hoping that I can have some similar success with the D80!)

Re: Hello from Kawasaki, Japan!

Whoa!

Thanks for the warm welcome! (And while I live in Kawasaki, the only "bike" I have is a Giant XTC Mountain Bike! )

I'm sure you guys are probably some of the more knowledgable people on Pixalo, and unfortunately, I need to ask for help earlier than I was hoping!!! (I'm still on my first read through the D80 manual...I was going to wait until I'd finished the first time through before asking for help if I could...)

I'm heading out of the country tomorrow, and if I want to exchange my camera because it might have problems, I should probably do it ASAP (tomorrow morning). To avoid derailing this, or another thread, I made a new thread with what I hope is enough info and links to the photos in question, and I'm really hoping someone can help me out!

Nikon D80 Problem! Please help! (Dark corners)
