Smile Hello from nowhere!

Hi all, I'm posting this from Northern Tasmania- the middle of nowhere! My wife and I are both keen photographers- she's done a bit of photojournalist work, and I'm a just-above-rank-amateur. Actually, our daughter Laura, age 4, got her first camera for her birthday and has been showing an interest too!

I am a teacher, though I've come to this job through a long and windy path. I started off in Savannah, Georgia, in the USA, and then moved to Queensland when I married an Aussie, and then to the Victorian Alps, and finally to Tasmania, which we reckon is the best of the lot.

I'm very interested in nature/landscape photography, birds, wildlife, macro and so-on. From my humble (and I mean it!) website you can see where my interests lie.

Anyhow, I've recently left another forum that was becoming very repetitive, and am looking forward to hearing some new views on stuff and getting new input on my work.

I look forward to meeting you all!

Cheers, The Camera Poser (Bob)

ps: The name comes from my wife, who reckons that Canon paints their big lenses white so that people can look like camera posers when they are using them at zoos. I just had to take this as my username! LOL

She's right, Mr Poser! Emphasised by the bleating from those that maintain it's to reflect the sun to keep the lens cool - so where's the white bodies (which suffer far worse from heat probs!)? Anyway, I always make sure I've got one attached in public places!

Tell you what- they get out of your way when you whip one out at a zoo. I ought to get a National Geo pack too- that'd really do it! LOL LOL

Re: Hello from nowhere!

Think it's Billingham bags over here. I had one but realised I needed to tow it behind the car (to distress it a bit as they look naff new but great when older) but couldn't voluntarily do that - "luckily" it was nicked, saving me the embarrassment of going out with it!

There was talk of Nikon doing white lenses but I've not seen anything further

i want poser lens for my trip next year (ahh just realised it this year now) i plan on going to Hemis national park and maybe Chitwan national park both in India but the wildlife there will be soo much easier to capture with this kind of lens as i want supuer image quality and dont want to get eaten by a big cat or anything.

Re: Hello from nowhere!

Hello from another recent newbie to the forum never been to Tasmania but I have been to that other little Island Australia a few times! There seems to be a bit of a interest in white lenses on here, but I do not think Nikon will follow on they prefer the more Pro Black look.........................Welcome

A job for a 100-400. An excellent poser lens. You can hear gasps of amazement when you pull it out, mount it on the camera, snap on the hood, and then give it a push or pull. They (the others..lol) will all gasp in awe!
