Hello from the Yukon

hi everyone!

I'm pleased to have found this website. Seems like a good one; here for us all to make good use of. I know I won't get in here that often but will try to keep up with things. Time's too driven; a process of constant choosing throughout everyday!

Of late, I've been having fun investing in my filter collection. My hope is to get out for good days of photo taking often over the coming weeks. I've loved fall all my life and the Yukon's fall is, for me and many who live here, particularly special. Fall here is my time for sure. With my new Z-Pro Cokin ND grads and the variety of round filters like ND8's, polarizers, etc., that I now have, I look forward to having a more satisfying time balancing the extremes of light. We get tons of clear, sunny skies, so possible compositions are often great exposure challenges.

Well, speaking of time choices, I better get out of here and on with the rest of my day. I look forward to getting back here and spending some good hours just poking around and exploring.

All the best,

yours,

Re: Hello from the Yukon

Ah the Yukon !! our favorite place to go for photos ! We were on the Dempster Hwy at the end of August in 08, and WOW ! what color on the tundra !! We were lucky and had two lovely days , drove with just our car to Eagle Plains, stayed there at the hotel, and came back the next day, it was looking like rain after that, so we didn't go all the way to Inuvik, but are now wishing we had. We left Dempster corner thinking that we would drive North on the Hwy for a few hrs and drive back the same day, but we were so bowled over by the beauty of the fall colors that we couldn't turn back ! so we drove to Eagle Plains and stayed over night sans our tooth brush or pj's , we talked with some cariboo hunters who told us that the cariboo were staying well away from the road as they were aware of the hunters, but now we wish we had gone all the way , isn't it always like that !! You live in beautiful country there ! Welcome to Pixalo, you will find the folks here just so nice, they never make you feel badly , they are so helpful and there are real pros here !

Re: Hello from the Yukon

hey, that sounds like a great trip! I trust you know that you are always welcome to come back! Fall on the Dempster.... very, very special times. Great you got to do it.

And thanks very much for the welcome. :-)

Re: Hello from the Yukon

Thanks Quinsey, we wanted to come at the end of the month, but with all the forest fires in BC, and the Cassiar closed for a while we didn't get going, so now we don't know for sure if we have time. The last week in Aug and first week in Sept is the best time for the colors, and it takes us two weeks to get up there, so maybe have to do that next year.
