Hi and Help? Photoshop Tutors?

Hi Folks,
Been snapping away for a couple of years and can take a half decent shot but Photshop - Yikes! I know that's what really needs mastering but what a horrible programme!! Are there any real live tutors out there in the West Yorkshire area that anyone can recommend? Tried using online and CD ROM learning and its just not my thing. Looking forward to posting some shots and sharing in the wider community.
All the best, Justin

Re: Hi and Help? Photoshop Tutors?

Welcome to Pixalo Justin

There are quite a few members who are proficient with Photoshop and will be able to help you. Most of us only ever use around 20% of what PS can do, it is a mighty program

Best thing is to break down what you want to achieve and work on one thing at
a time. There are usually several ways of getting the result you are after so you should be able to find a method you can get to grips with.

I think that most of us are self taught. I used video tutorials and books plus some helpful hints from Pixalo members. I suggest your 'modules' should be things like resizing, levels, curves, sharpening and hue and saturation. Layers and layer masks are probably the most useful thing to master, they can save you a lot of wasted time.

There are some tutorials here:

Hi Millser...i use photoshop constantly, but its a big programme. You need to ask me a specific task, and i can help then. I use the (digital photography handbook) by Doug Harman. Ask any time.

Re: Hi and Help? Photoshop Tutors?

Have you tried the video tutorials from someone like Lynda.com

I found them excellent when I needed to learn.

What version of PS do you have?
