Introducing myself

Hello I'm Andrew Hurley. I became intrerested in Photography on New Years Day 1990 when on a skiing holiday in Andorra. I bought an anastagmatico camera for around £16 and took my first roll of film over the following 7 days. Since then I upgraded to a Fuji compact then an old Mamiya ZE and I now own a couple of Nikon film SLR cameras and a Medium format Bronica (which I'm ashamed to say I hardly ever use!). I am very interested in digital photography and I can't wait to get really creative and produce some jaw dropping, original images.

My favourite artist is Salvador Dali and I would love to try and emulate some of his work. He had incredible imagination and vision and would often create very graphic works of art in which you have to study his life, his anxieties and his mind in order to begin to understand them - how many photographers can make that kind of claim! You can get a train from Girona on the Costa Brava to his home town of Figueres where he helped set up a theatre/museum to house his famous work. It is the most visited museum in Spain 12/10! I was there February this year and it was an unforgettable experience - well worth the plane/train journey.

My favourite subjects are Landscapes, harbour scenes, churches, portraiture, travel photography, Special FX and Pop & Rock Concerts which have included stars such as Elton John, Status Quo, Genesis, Blondie, Errol Brown, Sam Brown (no relation!), The Lighning Seeds, Black, Atomic Kitten! (it was a commission!), The Christians, (you can see a bit a Liverpool Connection now), Culture Club, Human League and ABC to name a few). My ambition is to photograph U2, Madonna and REM.
