A new entrant
Hello to all,
A yet another newbie joining this forum. I dont know much about photography but have deep fascination for it. I have a digital camera (Sony Cybershot) with which I always endeavor to shoot something creative but always fail ... .I bought it because I was under impression that, a highe megapixel camera always gives you best result and it does not require any photography knowledge. But I was wrong and now its clear to me that its not your camera but your art/knowledge of photography that could make any snap beautiful even with ordinary camera. So I sincerely hope that joining this forum would give me a good headstart in field of photography. I would like to know if I could get hold a some articles, some basic artciles that would help me to build my basics. Thanks, Kaustubh |

Welcome to Pixalo Kaustubh
![]() I think the first step for you will be to get to grips with the principles of composition. Once you have an understanding of this, you can start to learn how to use the camera settings to improve the technical aspects of your pictures. We have a Tutorials Forum that is more aimed at techniques rather than composition, but you can Google photographic composition, and also perhaps get a book or two. Members might be able to recommend some reading material. You can also start looking at - perhaps 'studying' is a better word, other people's pictures and see how they have framed them. A good start is to use the 'rule of thirds'. Imagine your viewfinder to have a grid with the lines dividing it into three both horizontally and vertically. Some cameras have this 'built in'. Try to get the main element of your picture at one of the intersections of these lines and this will make a big diference to your shots straight away.
