Hi all,
My name is Brian from the Isle of Wight.For a couple of years I had a small compact digital camera.Just over a year ago my wife bought me a new digital camera (FUJI S5600 ) and I was hooked on photography.As I am in my sixties,I have struggled with the technical terms their meanings and uses , e.g. f/stops etc. This said I do use the camera in its manual and semi manual mode and do feel I am making headway.So here I am ,got many questions to ask and some photographs to post.As I become more familiar with the site I will try to become an active and worthwhile member.  A read round the Articles & Tutorials section of the forums http://www.pixalo.com/articles.php will hopefully help you with some of the thing's your struggling with, and plenty of helpful members are here to help you with everything else

As the others have said the site is full of information and help is only a post away. No matter how simple your problem may seem to you please don't be afraid to post it here. The only silly questions are the ones that don't post - we all started from where you are now

Thank you for your welcome and your interest.I am still looking around your site at the moment as it is large and very informative.I have to say I am a little overawed at the skill of the members photography,and the depth of knowledge.I realise we all start with small steps and shortly I will endeavour to post some photgraphs for critique and help.

Welcome Brian,
Please give your comments about the pictures that interest you. While I was busy running my secondhand books shop I had no time (or money) for my hobby and when I retired the digital age had arrived. So all that time in the darkroom and the cost of film were old technology and photography had become easy and cheaper. One thing remains, as ever, the seeing eye of the artist who shows others his/her view of life. Best wishes, Joseph |
