Hello all, I'm kinda new to the whole photography scene to be honest.
Don't get me wrong. I love shooting pictures, taking video, editing video.
I've been told numerous times by many different people "outside the inner lies of the family member" lol that I have talent for the profession.

Problem I have is I may know how to point and shoot, and take good pictures.
but I'm a moron when it comes to half of the things everyone is talking about on this site. FS this and F/p 2.9 that 70-300VR lenses and what not. I have no clue what any of that means.. But I want to learn. I want to make photography my main profession.

I hope I've come to the right place to do so, so far I've been surfing the site and everyone, in there posts, seem very nice and willing to help.

Just need some nudges in the right directions to learn some basics and then, well who knows what the future holds.

Enough of my rambling. Glad to be a part of the site.

Welcome tweedy, it may all seem daunting but really the technical stuff is easy and a lot is just guilding the lilly. Most cameras can take care of all that and leave the important stuff to you. If you have a talent for the profession that almost certainly means an eye for a good picture, that's much much harder to learn so you have a big head start. I have also found everyone nice and willing to help, unlike a few other forums you may run across.

If you have been looking at our forums, you will have seen that t6he members are very friendly and helpful, so the bottom line is don't be afraid to ask.

You also do not have to learn it all at once. Split the subject up into small bits you will be comfortable with like aperture, shutter speeds, ISO, focus etc. As you become familiar with what the different things do and how it will affect the photographs, you will be able to see how the settings interact with each other.

Hi tweedy. I'm a bit like you, love taking the pics but get a bit lost on the tech stuff. I keep waiting for a lightbulb moment when all the things finally fall into place and I understand apertures, shutterspeeds etc to use to my advantage!!
