Hi, folks. This week a good friend gave me a brand new digital camera. Two days ago I hadn't a clue what to do with it. I've learned a little since then, planning to learn a lot more at sites like this. For a while I'll probably just listen and learn; feeling a little overwhelmed at the moment, but excited, too. Is there a place where the newborns usually start?

Welcome to Pixalo Mickey

You have two things to get to grips with. The first being getting familiar with your camera and getting some shots in the bag, the second is getting the pictures onto your computer and/or a CD, and onto the net or in an e-mail.

You need not worry about the technical aspects of photography for the moment - just leave it on auto unitl you want to try different things.

You should be able to do most of the computer work with the applications bundled in your computer, but sooner or later, you will find a dedicated editing package useful.

In the meantime, there is a bit of trial and error and a lot of fun to be had.

Anything you want to know, just ask - the members will be pleased to help.
