Visually impaired photography

[B]Bonsoir everyone
I'm a Brit, now living in S.W. France, early retired from proffesional phography by eysight problems. At least, thats my story, but it was probably Gods way of saying I wasn't muchgood. After a working life using Hasselblads and 5x4 cameras, I recently took the plunge and bought one of these new fangleed digial cameras. The nescessity for a battery was enough of a culture shock, let alone more than 12 pictures on a roll. and the lack of dermatitus from the developer.
I would be intrested on comparing notes with any other visually impared photographers there may be out there.
[/BPortraiture was my thing back in the UK, but I've yet to get organised for it here, although I have the space I would have given my eye teeh for Iin England.
I will now go away and try to sus out how to download photos

Best wishes to everyone ]

Re: Visually impaired photography

Welcome to Pixalo daguerre, and for the introduction. I suppose I could now be considered visually impaired after a year of treatment for a detached retina in my right eye. Surgery saved the sight but the quality isn't good enough to see through a viewfinder. So I have adjusted to using my left eye although my nose tends to get in the way a bit I've also started using Live-view. I'm not sure what camera you have but it's something to consider.

Either way it seems you will have a wealth of experience and I look forward to your contribution.

Re: Visually impaired photography

Welcome to Pixalo Daguerre

Although I would not consider myself visually impaired, my eyesight has deteriorated over the years and I now rely on autofocus whereas a few years ago I thought that it was a gimmick that I could do without!

My Bronica and Rolleicord have not seen daylight for a long time but maybe their larger focusing screens would make manual focus possible. However, I'm now so used to doing my processing in the light and without the use of chemicals that I'm not likely to try anytime soon.

As Stepheno said, i'm sure that your experience will be invaluable in helping other members. You might find this tutorial on uploading pictures useful
