First Timer's efforts. How am I doing?

OK, 12 months into the game and I'm ready to hear the views of the great and good of Pixalo. If you'll oblige of course.
Here's a few shots of a Bearded Tit or Reedling depending on preferred family name. Very Rare visitor to Bough Beech in Kent.

These little guys actually stayed still long enough for a photo!!

Thanks for looking.

Pretty good for a first attempt. Birds are challenging both to shoot and to get close to.

Re: First Timer's efforts. How am I doing?

Thanks for the encouraging feedback everyone. It's taken a while to get my eye in but I'm quite pleased with these shots from a couple of weeks back. Aidey's right of course, the foliage is sharper than the bird for sure. Will have to keep an eye on that in future.

Re: First Timer's efforts. How am I doing?

I'd be pleased if I'd taken them! Always a thrill to capture a particularly rare visitor too!

That is always a problem with auto focus. It picks up the high contrast branches by preference. What I do is to switch to centre point focusing and make sure that that one point is on the bird. I have never got anywhere with manual focus for birds.

The last time I saw one the the bearded tits was at the Blacktoft RSPB reserve. Unfortunately it was being eaten by a peregrine at the time. More unfortunately they were too far away to photograph.

Ah, ha! Cheers for that AQ. And kudos to you for identifying a half eaten bird at long range!!
Thanks again everyone for the kind and insightful words.

Nice set of shots, not the easiest thing to photograph.
