Cheers for the comments gents and I have to agree with you 100% about the cut tree. In this case nature was not so obliging though as then next tree in the line overlapped it and getting space on that side of the shot without some serious cloning is simply not possible.
Maybe I will revisit the shot in PS as time allows

Beautiful crisp and clear image. Like the white space in front of the trees. seems to be taken from a fairytale almost.

Nice shot, as stupot said, could easily be a Christmas card, also sham about the tree, but as you pointed out nothing could be done.
