Thanks for the comments, this is an uncropped shot taken at 3x Magnification on the MPE-65mm Cannon lens. I took about 20 or so of this fairly unmoving fly and this is one of 2 at this mag that is in focus! Trial and error!

No it's not easy, at that magnification the movement the amount of a pinhead from the leaf or camera lens throws the image well off. But it is aided by a flash to fix the shutter speed so providing you managed to get the focus on and the subject in frame I get one that works out of every 20 or so.



The DOF is the max on the lens of F16, hence use of flash.
