Lol, OP's almost right!... unfortunately the poor horse suffers terribly from a skin condition that flairs up when bitten by flies. As a result she has a body rug and mask that she wears in the summer months to stop this from happening. However the rug actually keeps her cooler than she would be without it so she dosn't mind having to wear it too much in the summer, and as the flies die off when it gets cold she dosn't need it from October to April.

Oh right. So her eyes are not covered, like it looks here? I was wondering if she knew what she was eating LOL ... "smells like straw, feels like straw - must be straw" 
I've seen a few horses round my way with coats on, which I thought was exceedingly cruel + that they must be boiling hot + their fur can't breathe from a lack of air flow over the skin There were several horses in the same field together like this, so I'm sure they didn't all have a skin condition Haven't seen them for a couple of weeks though, so maybe the coats have gone back into storage.
