Can anyone replace the sky without losing the spokes and still make it look realistic?

Also, please feel free to have a play

I've tryed may things, none of which have worked...

Masking, colour replace, blending layers together, erasor, etc etc

I'm now thinking of learining to draw the spokes back in after I've replaced the sky.

Haven't chance to get onto main rig yet to playe with this, but have you thought about adapting this Alpha MAsking technique :- http://www.pixalo.com/community/tuto...nels-3580.html

Tryed the method in the link, didn't work theres not enough contrast to work with between the sky and rider.

I'll have to look out one with a very bright sky.

Have some other non MX shots this method will work with though

If you tried with the GREEN channel for this shot & then after "apply image" use curves & drag upper 2/3 of line up to top, you bleach out all the sky (note you would have to pain in some of rider hilights though. Not as easy as high contrast shot like your other one, but still worth noting

For this one Nick I just converted my previous image using CHannel Mixer at 100% Green. A tad of USM around 20,20,0 & then just burnt in the shadows on the tyres to get them a bit more black.....& that was it
