I cut round the castle then duplicated it. Next I added a warming filter to the background, increased the shadows then darkened.
Finaly I added two yellow spotlights to the castle and tidied up the edges with a combination of the erasor and burn tools.

Good conversions guys
Graham, like the idea of using selective focus, .....Nick, makes the shot look like it was shot at sunset, some great drama in shot. ......Stepheno, but more bite with your conversion & hey Mono

Like the conversion & very clever Fiona
Thought I better have a go myself. Converted using Channel Mixers. Green for Tower & Red for rest of shot. Heavily sharpened grass. Medium sharpened tower.

I love all the various versions, and just wish I had the expertise to do similar - but does nobody else find the bright bit of building in the lower middle quite distracting?

I know what you mean bagshanty but I don't have a problem with it. In this case, I feel it provides scale and by not being dumbed down with burning, it ties it into the picture and helps it integrate with the larger building. In short, it feels like it is supposed to be there and not just something we want rid of. Without it, the main tower could be any size as there would be nothing to get the scale from. That's the way i see it anyway.
Cheers,
Rob

As the one who "dumbed down with burning" on the other thread with this shot, I'll say that I don't think it adds any form of scale at all. There's no size reference to gauge just how big that pile of bricks might be. Now the fence does and I'd argue against getting rid of that
