Another local theater and beloved landmark closed, probably for good. The Englewood Theater, in Independence, Missouri brought joy, freshly-popped popcorn and countless double-features to me in my youth. Mega-cinemas and time itself have rendered such places obsolete. The neighboring five & dime has also been long gone, another relic of an increasingly distant past.
