Pros:
small, sharp, nice colour, doubles as reasonable portrait lens on 1.5 crop
Cons:
not much working distance
nice small micro (macro) lens, these days you might want to consider the 105vr as it has VR but don't overlook the 60 as it has bags of quality and for some subjects (environmental macros / detail shots) being able to get more background in is a plus
the auto focus and the sharpness works well for portraits, it's not AFS but then when you get close in you are likely to be manually focusing so not really an issue.
the working distance is probably not recommended for small critters as you need to be really close
