An aspherical lens element is used for excellent correction of distortion. A zoom hood is supplied with this lens for complete depth in the telephoto range and glare-free shooting in the wide-angle range.

Pros:
2.8-4.0 aperture still beats most kit lenses, decent build quality, great price
Cons:
Focus sometimes gains a mind of its own
I bought this lens as a cheap replacement for the 18-55 kit lens that came with my rebel xt. The 28mm wasn't as wide as I would have liked, and I still find myself switching back to the 18-55 for the wider shots. For general purpose walkaround, and considering the price, it was certainly worth the investment.
