I had to think long and hard about this lens as i had read both positive and negative reviews. But i needed a replacement for my kit lens.
So having bought it I can say that it has rarely been off the front of the camera.
It is a fast lens having f2.8 throughout the focal lengths and very quick to respond.
very little problem with CA and a nice sharpness throughout.
Manual focus is a bit fiddly as you have to push the switch to manual then pull back the front of the outside of the lens to disengage the auto focus.
down side.... a very heavy lens and a very wide lens. getting filters is going to be expensive at 82mm diameter. if you are using the lens hood dont bother with the pop up flash as it casts a huge shadow.
all in all however im very happy with the lens and glad i made the decision i did.
