Unlike many digital cameras, you won't want to separate this camera from its lens. Covering the crucial 28-300mm* range, and crafted from the highest standard Fujinon optics, this is a built-in lens that has been engineered to work perfectly with the camera's sensor technology. And the sensor technology is just as advanced – a nine million effective pixel Super CCD and Real Photo Processor combination that not only delivers on detail, but also the major image quality milestones: colour, low noise, dynamic range and sensitivity.
· New Fujifilm Super CCD sensor with 9.0 million effective pixels
· New 28-300mm (10.7x) Fujinon zoom lens with manual twist-barrel zoom control
· Class-leading sensitivity setting of ISO 1600 for photography in low light conditions
· 1.8” tilting LCD screen for easy high and low angle shooting
· second shutter lag and 0.8 second start-up
· Real-time histogram
· Highlight Warning feature for displaying highlight areas in playback
· VGA movie capture of 30 frames per second with zoom capability and sound
· Closed unit design to eliminate dust accumulation on the CCD
· Hot shoe and PC sync terminal
· RAW format shooting
· Dual storage options (CompactFlash and xD-Picture Card)
· Manual Zoom Ring
Fujinon 28-300 Lens
Unlike interchangeable lenses, this one's fixed to the camera for ever. And that is a good thing – not only will the interior of the camera be protected from dust and the elements, but you also have an incredible zoom range at your disposal. Fujinon optics have an enviable reputation within the photography industry for their clarity and quality, and the lens on the S9500 Zoom lives up to the name. The 13 elements include one hybrid aspherical element, one glass moulded aspherical element, as well as ED glass. Furthermore, photography enthusiasts will like the manual twist barrel zoom control, as well as the manual focusing ring, both giving pinpoint control.
Tilting LCD Monitor
Your shooting freedom is enhanced by the tilting 1.8" LCD monitor on the back of the camera. No longer will you be required to use guesswork when shooting above your head or from ground level – this LCD gives you the live image, so you can compose with ease. Given that you are not required to lift the camera to your eye, candid shots and street photography are also very easy.

this is a fabulous camera for those photographers who either dont have the confidence/ funds/ ability for a DSLR.
It is NOT a simple point and shoot camera so for those of you that are looking for that do NOT buy this camera. The 9500 takes a huge amount of learning as there are settings you dont even think exsist. BUT they are all there for a purpose.
I have read a few negative reviews on the auto focussing on this camera and yes it can be a little slow and sometimes it is not sure exactly what you want to fucos on, but it does have manual focus to get over this problem.
it is lovely to hold, the buttons and settings are all in easy to reach places apart from perhaps the exposure lock button.
The manual is easy to understand and has just enough information to whet the apetite without giving away too much!
Down side ..... hasnt got many but I will say that although the ISO goes to 1600........DONT USE IT! the pictures are really so noisy that it is not worth anything unless just to print out at smaller than 6 x 4.
All in all, a camera that will keep me happy for a good long time ( hopefully) and coming from someone who is on their 4th camera in 3 years i have been informed it had better!

my first impressions of this camera were very good. the build quality is good and solid although i wouldnt like to drop it as its quite big and heavy! i like the manual zoom and manual focus ring. the focus ring is very useful for close up/macro shots.
i also like the tilting lcd screen, you can take shots right down on the floor without having to lie down ! or hold the camera above your head and see what you are shooting at. it makes composing shots at unusual angles a lot easier.
changing settings is second nature now with the thumb wheel, just turn it to change shutter speed and then hold the +/- button and turn it to change your aperture. easy peasy ! just press the F button to access iso, quality and std/chrome/b+w settings.
the menus are easy to navigate, all your main settings are where they should be exept raw which should be quicker to access for those who use it. if you have small hands you will struggle to reach the exposure lock button.
the picture quality is pretty good, it took a bit of experimenting to find the optimal settings for different scenes/situations ect but once you are used to the camera you will produce some fab pics trust me. this is not a point and shoot camera so dont expect to just pick it up and produce amazing photos straight away. i always use manual mode, the auto modes dont always get it right.
overall im happy with this camera, it does everything i want it to and more. the only complaint is high noise with higher iso settings. it can be a bit frustrating when you want to capture low light shots. i try not to go over iso 200.
