A counterweight is built into the design for easy use with any flat panel or CRT display. When you need to profile a display with a hood, use the built-in suction cups to attach the device directly to the monitor.
This new version improves on the original Eye-One Display with a new enhanced sensor, faster measurements and a new Ambient Light head.
Eye-One Match 3.6 software

I originally had a Spyder 2 that I didn't get along with so sold it and bought the Eye-one.
Great little piece of kit with lots of options to calibrate your monitor.
Easy on screen commands that will take you through to achieving a profile for your monitor.
You choose what type of display you want to calibrate (LCD/CRT), then the option of EASY or ADVANCED.
Which ever one you choose it is just a case of following the on screen commands and there is useful help guide along the way.
Now having said it is a great little piece of kit there are one or two things that annoy which I think maybe down to the type of display.
If I wanted to calibrate my LCD to a value of 6500k I would have to set the LCD to approx 7200K using the pre-set RGB on the LCD for the Eye-one to calibrate to 6500K and often it would either give a value of 6400 or 6700.......I have since read not to trust the monitors kelvin pre-sets and best to set an LCD to NATIVE.
The above has only happened on my LCD.......my CRT calibrated with ease.
Also when prompted to centre a slider (setting the Brightness & Contrast) it can jump around a little but this has supposedly been corrected with the latest software 3.6.1.
After the Eye-One has done it's thing you are prompted to save and choose when you next want to calibrate (1 week, 2 weeks etc)......which ever you choose Eye-One will prompt you when the time has expired on PC start up.

I wont go on about how to use it because it's been covered, I used to use Adobe Gamma and I've tried a Huey Pro, neither of which I felt I could trust, Human eyeball=too adaptive and frankly the Huey with all its whistles and bells feels like a toy compared with this. The other thing is that the eye-one comes with a counter weight so it rests on you screen and does not need the suckers pushing on to the screen, the Huey does and There was no way I was going to risk damaging my EIZO CE210W screen, which incedentally has its own built in hardware calibration and software (ColorNavigator) that wont work with a Huey!! Also I know for a fact that serious Pros like John Freeman will only use the best, and this is what he uses, also Bill Atkinson Colour management Daddy and excellent nature photographer! also swears by GretagMacbeth now X-rite who make the eye-one.
