Gitzo G1278M Mag Center Ball Head Series 2 QR
At just a shade over 1lb, the G1278M features Gitzo’s new quick-release plate system. Light enough to travel with, but strong enough to carry loads up to 13.2 lbs, the G1278M offers excellent locking power for its size, with separate mechanisms for panoramic and ball movements.
Its advanced teflon-coated ball gives smooth, fluid-feeling movements between shots, and this coating makes camera positioning adjustments smoother than ever before by eliminating all trace of jarring and skipping.
With the G1278M’s ergonomic design, it is easy and intuitive to use, while its advanced precision engineering guarantees high performance locking with a wide range of camera equipment.
Features
Made of high quality low weight magnesium.
Spirit level ensures head is perfectly level.
Secure locking system for the plate so equipment cannot accidentally fall off the head, even if it has not been locked down. To remove the equipment and plate, simply press the lock release button and slide the plate out.
A non-keyed square plate: Keeping any side of the plate parallel to the back or front of the camera ensures perfect alignment without having to worry how the plate fits on the adapter.
Independent pan and tilt controls lock the head exactly where it is set, without movement. All locking knobs have a rubber coating, for a softer touch and excellent grip.

Had this Ballhead for several months and it is a very nice head indeed.
One knob for pan and one for tilt are easy to navigate.
Easily takes my 1DMKII & 16-35 2.8 for landscapes.
