With my other hobby I enjoy is to build model kits I bought this mini tripod for indoor macro and close up photography. Being that it's small lightweight it's very good for small subject photography projects.
The two I have although shown in the picture that it has a winder for height adjust are without this winder and in truth for me it makes no difference to me if I need more height I undo the locking nut make my adjustment then lock it again and carry on.
If you are one of those togs who enjoy flower macro or just normal flower shots then this minipod will allow you good and close affording you a sturdy base to work from.
You can buy extra QR bases and as I've found out they fit very nicely onto the DX 888 tripod so if you have both then there's no need to keep changing the QR bases.
One peace of advice though is if you have a battery grip fitted to your camera I would advise that you take this off before using this mini tripod, when you're trying to do an over head shot with the mini tripod set up as low as it can go with the extra weight of the battery grip you may find that it may try to topple over.
Overall a good all round mini tripod for indoor and outdoor close up or macro work.

Less stable in portrait orientation

Like Davey, I grabbed this because it is ideal for setting up table-top macro shots at home. There are small mini-tripods around but most are only really useful for small compact cameras and can't take the weight of a DSLR with decent macro lens. There is a thing called a Gorilla Pod which is stronger but that is really a different product altogether.
The 3-section legs allow it to be raised to a decent height, when coupled with the centre column and the head, up to about 2 feet high. Mine doesn't have a winding lever to raise the column and frankly it doesn't need it, not sure whether they used to have them or something as per the picture but certainly mine doesn't nor Davey's.
The head is a three-way head allowing you to pan, tilt and change orientation to portrait. That is one slight weakness: if you use your camera in portrait, turn it so the camera is directly above one leg. If it is between the legs, it becomes a bit less stable, especially if using a decent sized lens.
I happily use my 20D with the 100mm USM macro lens and this tripod handles it very well. As with most macro work, I recommend using a cable release for the shutter to avoid any movement whatsoever.
There are none of the refinements that you would get on a good quality full sized tripod like reversible centre column, spirit level, etc. but see this for what it is, a very cost effective tripod for use at home and in the garden for very little money.
Cheers,
Rob
