Pros: vertical firing, better grip, AF-on button, doubles shooting time.
Cons: Battery life with 6 AA is significantly shorter than with EN-EL3e

This grip has Nikon's excellent build quality. Attaching it will save your right thumb from nasty bruises and blisters. Particularly if you use it to shoot weddings where you shoot over a thousand pics. The Nikon MB-D80 battery pack adds extended shooting time and the grip design helps a lot with shooting stability since youre able to hold better. Nikon MB-D80 Grip is Able to run on either one or two EN-EL3e batteries or six AA-size batteries AA Battery Holder (included), Approx. 2,500 shots with one EN-EL3e and approx. 5,000 shots with two EN-EL3e batteries, Its not the same amount with the six AA batteries it is shorter lifespan, MB-D80 Grip is compatible with AA-size alkaline, Ni-MH, lithium and nickel-manganese batteries.
The buttons for shutter release and AE-Lock/AF-Lock makes it a lot more easier and comfortable to use. If you own a D80, you have to own a MB-D80!!!
