Description: Quick Release MiniConnect

Probably the smartest Quick Release System providing an outstanding degree of stability. One handed use is problem-free. The coupling pieces are round and so small that they can be left on the camera or lens at all times without interfering in any way. Also suitable for the heaviest cameras and lenses.

Dimension: 80 x 60 x 18 mm
Weight: 140 g

One coupling piece with ¼ " thread is included

Special features: MiniConnect has a safeguard mechanism for the lock which requires a double-action to release the camera.

Pros: Quick to use, versatile steady, quite compact.
Cons: No compatible L shaped brackets or Gimbles.

This is not only a quick release it is a quick attach as well. It also is just about small enough to always leave attached to the camera and lenses. I ummed and ahhed about this because based the picture makes it look tiny and I felt it wouldn't be sturdy enough. That is not the case and it's plenty strong enough for a D2X and a 600F4
The plates come in 1/4" and 3/8" varieties and also ones with small locking grub screw to stop it twisting.
There are 2 different bases one very sturdy for full sized kit pictured above and one smaller for a lightweight tripod.

I have 2 standard releases one for my tripod head and one for my mono pod and also have a lightweight MR one on my small tripod. They can attach by 1/4 or 3/8" thread. To attach to the standard releases is a one handed job as you put it in it releases a spring and you are locked in. You can push to tighten even further. There is a safety switch that needs to be released before you can unlock, unlocking re primes the spring.
The smaller MR is simpler and you need 2 hands to lock it in and it doesn't have a safety lock.
Another cool feature is that you can attach a neck strap to the standard releases so that you can snap the camera in and out if you want to go strap free. I don't mind a strap but do occasionally use this when shooting with long lenses. This way the strap attaches to the lens foot rather than the camera so there is less strain on the mount and it makes changing lenses much easier.
Overall I could not be more pleased with this set up, the plates are always on my cameras and lenses so using a tripod is quick and easy and painless. This means I use a support for more shots which has to be a good thing.
