Pros: Pro Build, film like colours, 10mp option, easy to learn
Cons: Battery life

Never quite happy with my D70 and could not justify the cost of a D2x (to my wife anyway)

Started reading about the D1x and all reports were positive and found an immaculate kit boxed with three spare batteries with VERY light use.

Using this camera is superb - its feels well built and fits well in the hands, just like my F5.

The menu system is easy to navigate and all controls are intuative - mine is the upgrade version with the 21 shot buffer.

Using Nikon Capture 4.4 you can opt to fully utilise the special CCD and opt to convert NEF files to 10mp. This is excellent and enables printing at very large sizes without the need for Genuine Fractels etc.

The colours POP and do have a film look to them.

Noise at high ISO may be a problem but lets not forget the grain on high ISO films........... Anyway treatment with Noise Ninja sorts this.

All in all I am very impressed with this "old" technology and have saved probably £1500.00 with the purchase.

Good luck to those that have to have the newest version - makes my purchase a steal...........

Only downside is battery life........... make sure you have a couple of spares.

Yes I do crave a D2x but my D1x will surfice until prices drop.

Don't overlook this incredible piece of kit at the expense of a consumer body - try one if you can - I am sure you will end up buying one.....
