Pros: Clear diagrams of how shots are achieved
Cons: Very little extra info

First off, let's list what this book won't cover

- Technicalities of using Studio Lighting
- Poses for models to use

What this book does cover though is inspirational shots, with short text on how they were achieved , plus a 3d diagram of lighting, camera & model positions. From this it gives you a good idea how to set up a similar shot.

Contents of the book are
  • Introduction
  • Styling for Portraits
  • Making Light Work
  • Glossary of Lighting Terms
  • Practicalities
  • Outdoor/Ambient
  • Simple Lighting
  • Two Lights
  • More Complex setups

The 1st 5 sections are covered in just 14 pages, leaving majority of book to real example of shots.

Book took about 60-90 mins to read in full. If you want in depth instructions this book is not for you. If you want to be inspired & pointed in the right direction, then it works a charm
