Description: Aperture 2 delivers over 100 dramatic new features, including advanced image processing,
a streamlined interface, faster performance, and unprecedented Mac integration.

Streamlined interface that’s more accessible and intuitive.
Aperture 2 includes an all-in-one Inspector that consolidates the Projects, Metadata, and Adjustments panes and lets you switch between them simply by pressing W. Another convenience, the simplified Viewer and Browser setup lets you maximize screen real estate for your images.
Powerful enough for the most exacting pro, Aperture 2 introduces a streamlined new interface that makes it easy enough for any photographer to use. Watch this tour to see how accessible and intuitive Aperture 2 is.

Streamlined Interface
See some of the tools that make Aperture so easy to use.

• By consolidating the Projects, Metadata, and Adjustments panes into a single, all-in-one Inspector and HUD, Aperture 2 lets you switch among projects, assign keywords and update metadata, and apply image adjustments in one convenient place.
• The powerful targeted image magnifier in Aperture 2 lets you zoom up to 1600% to quickly view image detail without needlessly having to zoom, pan, and scroll through images.
• With the built-in iPhoto Browser, you can quickly skim through photos in your iPhoto library directly from Aperture 2.
•
Quickly locate images in the innovative All Projects view with project skimming (ΰ la iPhoto Events). In fact, you can access your entire iPhoto library, directly within Aperture 2, to import selected events, albums, or individual photos using the iPhoto Browser. Choose Show iPhoto Browser from the File menu to reveal the browser.

Accelerated performance at every step of the workflow.
Thanks to an optimized database and a streamlined, more responsive user interface, Aperture 2 provides dramatically improved performance throughout your workflow.

The new Quick Preview mode, for example, provides rapid-fire photo browsing, letting you quickly compare, rate, and select images. You can create custom keyboard shortcuts to speed up your work. Or use the significantly improved search tools to conduct fast, pinpoint searches with extended search logic. Aperture also offers enhanced performance when making processor-intensive adjustments, such as Noise Reduction and Highlights and Shadows.

And because Aperture preps versions, masters, or whole projects for export in the background, you can save valuable time while continuing to sort, compare, or modify images.

• Speed up the process of accessing and displaying images by typing P to turn on Quick Preview mode. Aperture displays only image previews, which load much faster than RAW masters.
• Quickly skim through all your photos — just as you can skim Events in iPhoto ’08 — by switching to All Projects view. Hover your mouse over any Key Photo to review the photos in that project.
• With extended search logic and the ability to search for adjustments and RAW decode versions, you can conduct pinpoint searches in Aperture 2.
• Achieve better results while sharpening — or applying other image adjustments — by checking the results in the Loupe as you drag sliders left and right.

Enhanced image processing.
Leveraging the next-generation RAW image processing in Mac OS X Leopard, Aperture 2 delivers images of astounding quality, offering superb color fidelity, increased shadow detail, reduced noise, and advanced highlight recovery. Realize the very best results from every image by applying new RAW Fine Tuning controls, adjusting RAW rendering on an image-by-image basis.

Adjustment Tools
Use adjustment tools to create beautiful images

• Salvage images with blown highlights using the Recovery tool. Taking full advantage of the new RAW processing tools in Mac OS X, it recovers detail without darkening the rest of the image.
• Vibrancy — just one of a variety of new photo enhancement tools in Aperture 2 — lets you add punch to images by adding saturation to less-saturated colors.
• Use the Repair brush to copy texture from a source area and maintain color and shading in the area you’d like to repair. Radius, Softness, and Opacity sliders let you fine tune your repair.

To improve and enhance photographs, use the new Recovery tool to pull back “blown” highlights. With the Vibrancy tool, you can selectively boost saturation without adversely affecting skin tones. Or pick up the soft-edged Retouch brush to quickly and easily remove blemishes, clean up sensor dust, or clone out unwanted elements.

For even more flexibility, take advantage of some of the plug-ins made possible by the powerful new plug-in architecture in Aperture 2. For example, make selective edits using the included Dodge & Burn plug-in (which supports a variety of brush effects). Or use third-party plug-ins, such as Nik Software's Viveza or PictureCode's Noise Ninja.

Aperture provides RAW support for the leading digital cameras and camera backs. It also supports DNGs made from the RAW files of most digital cameras.
