Description: Features

The new Sony Alpha A380 is one of the third generation of digital SLRs. Features include a 14.0 megapixel CCD (Bionz), a 9 point sophisticated autofocus system, D-Range Optimiser with Advanced mode adjusts brightness and contrast for beautifully-exposed backlit scenes, and an 2.7" (230,000 pixel) tilt wide-angle LCD is integrated for an excellent review, even in brilliant sunlight.

These features are housed within a relatively compact, robust form, just 128 x 97 x 67.5mm. The inclusion of Autofocus 'Live View' function enables you to continuously preview the image before it is taken. Compact Flash cards or Sony memory stick duo (adapter required) are fully compatible with the Sony Alpha A380 SLR. Sony 18-55mm f3.5-5.6 lens is included as part of this package.

Sony Alpha A380L Box Contents:

Pros: Cheap, Light, LiveView, Sharp, Steadyshot, intuative, Minolta lenses
Cons: Small Grip, 3fps, LiveView no good in dark.

Great camera for those either just starting out in the world of DSLR or wanting to upgrade to 14 mega pixels.

Its very solid and well put together camera. The 18-55mm kit lens however is not quite so convincing and feels very flimsy.
The kit I bought also came with the 55-200mm lens and this partnered up with the A380 produces some stunning results both sharp and with very nice colour reproduction.

Lenses are easy to get hold of with the Sony Alpha fit also allowing for Minolta lenses to fit and can be picked up cheaply without the need for stabilizers in the lens due to the steadyshot being built into the camera.

The menu system is easy to use and you have the option to turn on or off explanations of each setting as you chose it, great for those starting out helping them find there way.

The grip is smaller than the traditional DSLR and many will not like it. Give it to someone who has never held a DSLR before and they will comment how big the grip is and how sturdy it feels, so its all down to what your used to.

If you want a sharp, cheap, light, easy to use DSLR with lots of lens options then you can’t go far wrong with the Sony A380.
