Pros:

Stunning quality for the price of the glsss, close to 'L' lens quality, Fast and light
|
|
Cons:
|
Build quality due to being mostly plastic, but for the price who can complain
|

One of my most used lenses, it takes a little while to adjust to it being a prime if you are use to using zooms, but the effort really is worth it. Tack sharp, light and great in low light, makes an excellent portrait lens even on 1.6x crop camera bodies, every photographer should own a copy of this lens.

After finally picking up the nifty fifty S/H I was pleasantly surprised with the images it produced.
Incredible lens when you consider the price.

How can a lens less than £80 have -ve points!

I have only just got mine but this is a lens nobody should leave out of their kit collection. It is so small you feel like something is missing on your camera but don't let its lightness and plasticity fool you: this is one heck of a portrait lens.
On my 20D, this is an 80mm f 1.8 lens which is nigh on perfect for portraits. No zoom but that is unimportant in this focal length and being a prime lens, its quality is top notch. As it has a wide aperture of f 1.8, blurred backgrounds are a doddle which increases the effective sharpness of the subject as it absolutely pops forward from the BG.
It only weights 4 ounces and for someone like me used to a whopping great 100-400mm lens stuck on the front, this is great to use. You can snap away for ages and never get tired. It focuses fast and cleanly and is a lens you should never under-estimate. Not many lenses can claim a title like this one but here is a lens that is definitely a must-have in your kit.Even if you only use it now and again, it is not going to break the bank nor take up loads of equipment space.
Cheers,
Rob

This is an absolute must for the canon user, it equates to an 80mm on my 350D and is ideal for portraits.

The nifty fifty cannot be beaten for optical quality for the money. OK the lens is very plasticky , but what do you expect at the price.

As has already been said, its cheap and its cheerful, but the results confound you as they give the impression they are from a much more expensive lens.
not called the Nifty Fifty for nothing, its small lightweight and takes a bit of getting used to on camera, but its fast, so ideal in low lighting conditions, and absolutely tack sharp!
Buy it, if you drop it its going to break but at that price it shouldnt be too long until u are able to replace it!
